Tuesday Joy
I had just driven off from that tiny airport in northwest Houston. I had delivered food to someone who was working a long shift and was heading back to the more populated area, so that I could be sent another order by DoorDash. My eyes noticed a single tree on the side of the small, country road. The thing that caught my eye was the single pink bloom on the side of the tree. I cannot explain it, but I felt an exponential surge of JOY upon seeing it. The area behind my eyes that usually burgeons with pain when I am hurt by someone’s mean-heartedness…well, it burgeoned again, but it was a completely different feeling this time. It was one of those moments where I knew that–despite how hard life can often be–that I had this blessing of having a really great life and of being one of the luckiest girls in the world. These little moments…these TINY moments of beauty and love and acceptance and understanding that do not come in like a conquering soldier demanding to be seen and congratulated, but as a tiny footstep like a child taking their first step. And those moments are just as important. These moments are what I call ‘Tuesday Joy.’
