Out of the Cobwebs: Facebook Memories: Plain Kitties

Those Leland girls are tiny bundles of inspirations…little pint-sized muses for

the blissful inkslinger who lives inside me. Last night at our 1st Sunday DQ

night, I heard a LLG (little Leland girls) story that deserves its place under the

auspices of my “Out of the Mouth of Babes” series.

Troy, Sarah, and the girls were driving somewhere in the car when, out

of the blue, Elisabeth asked a random question.

Elisabeth: “Daddy, can we get a kitty on Friday?”

Troy: “No, Elisabeth. We can’t get a kitty on Friday.”

A few minutes of silence passed, so Troy assumed that the issue

wouldn’t be revisited for awhile. He realized his mistake when he

heard Elisabeth softly say:

Elisabeth: “Well, Daddy, we don’t have to get the kind that bites.

We can just get the kind that licks!”

Her sister, Abigail, ever helpful, solves the problem neatly by piping

up with this idea:

Abigail: “Why don’t we just get the plain kind? Then they won’t

bite or lick!”

Had the weirdest dreams last night. First, I was with family (but they weren't my real family--except Victoria, I think) We went to a foreign country and were invited to a small dinner party. Whilst there, we met H.W. and Barbara who were very neat, except they expressed shock when I said Reagan was my favorite. They informed me that he had an illegitimate child and didn't deserve to be my favorite. So, we finally left the party and were heading via local bus to the airport when I, along with a child in our party, got separated from everyone and couldn't find them. We looked and looked and tried to remember where we had been staying. (it had had lots of brass instruments playing in the streets, BTW) and we ended up deciding it was Fort Bliss (which IRL had been in the news last night) We ended up finding our people and then I awoke. I moved from the chair to the bed and fell asleep again. I then dreamed that I was dating a guy who wanted to buy me new brand name tennis shoes which were on sale for $17. We went to the store and tried some on but they didn't have my size. I fit into some small men's sizes though. He started balking at buying me the shoes and disappeared. later, I was outside and was kind of a 'fly on the wall" and saw this guy (who had turned into a girl) stealing products and passing it off as stuff he had bought. He had this whole system to bilk local businesses of their products and re-sell them. Another guy showed up and--through this weird and covert system--caught him and he was jailed. Then, I dreamed that I was sitting talking to an elderly man who had been a teacher for years. He was complaining about what a terrible, rude student I had been. I questioned him as to where he had taught. It had NEVER been in the U.S., so I told him he was outta his mind. All the while, I had been (for some reason) pulling chunks of hair out of my head. They had been large mixes of slate grey, silver, fluffy white, and my natural auburn. I kept pulling and pulling hanks of hair out of my head and finally had enough to make a wig! Then I awoke for good. weird. weird. weird.

I had the most amazing dream last night about Daddy. In it, he had a disease, and was dying. He decided to throw a huge party to celebrate himself. The party was to be in a medium sized city (strangely, not in Texas, but somewhere more westerly). In the dream, he had donated--heavily, in his youth--to a sperm bank. He found and invited all of the hundreds of his children to this party and many of them attended. They were all the most awesome people. Some of them--even--were famous. Though it is impossible because he was about the same age as Daddy, Gregory Hines was one of his children, and he attended. Also, a really, really tall professional basketball player was also one of his kids and attended, and a famous Broadway star was one of his and she even performed at his party (on a float--i guess they had a parade for him?) There were--literally--hundreds of people there, most of them just regular, normal--but totally awesome people--who made the world SO MUCH of a better place. One girl was even someone I know from here (but can't remember who she is) When she showed up, I was in awe, and was like, "What are you doing here?" and she was like, "I'm one of his children." And we hugged each other and were just crying in happiness that we were sisters. It was really a fabulous dream. I'm so glad Daddy comes to visit me in my dreams cos it makes me so happy to see him and I still miss him so much.
